Our goal is to improve independence, socialization, communication skills, and a sense of personal worth for all participants enrolled.

AFTER SCHOOL RESPITE- AGES 14-21

Lifespire is affiliated with, or represented in, major professional and regional groups involved in promoting the interest and welfare of developmentally disabled individuals.

Activities are provided to build confidence, promote personal growth, and provide individuals with the tools necessary to support an independent lifestyle.

Our secondary goal is to prepare students to qualify for more advanced training, eventually leading to employment and a greater degree of independence upon graduation.

Each group has a cooking class each day, in which they learn how to plan and prepare nutritious meals. They are taught safety, and are given the opportunity to enjoy their meals with their peers.

ADULT RESPITE- AGES 21 AND OLDER

Participants will become actively involved members of their communities. We provide an environment in which program participants can express their talents and explore their communities, with a minimum of support from trained, professional, and caring staff.

All programs help participants learn to be more independent and develop relationships with people outside of their families.

SATURDAY RESPITE- AGES 5 TO 21

Activities can range from trips to the zoo, parks, museums, local restaurants, movies, bowling, baseball games, and others, to help participants become familiarized with the resources around their community.

This also helps the participants to become more comfortable with different and unfamiliar surroundings.

Possibilities are endless! activities are scheduled based on participant’s interest, providing them with a sense of relaxation and helping them build lasting friends and memories.

Lifespire recreation programs serve to teach participants to live life to the fullest in helping and caring for one another.
